Masami Kagiya works in Shigaraki, a renowned Japanese ceramics-producing region, using local clay.
She shapes the pieces by hand, without using a potter’s wheel or molds, and fires them in a kiln at 800 °C. She then colors them with pigments and glazes and fires them again at 1240 °C.
