Jars of Clay Ceramics

Thomastown, Ireland

Sonja primarily creates works made using the white stoneware slab technique, covered with a thin layer of colored porcelain. She also uses a variety of textures and iron oxide glazes to accentuate the surfaces.

The smaller pieces are made using pressure molds and decorated by hand with self-made stamps and textured rollers.

All pieces undergo an initial firing (biscuit firing) at 1000 °C, followed by a glaze firing at around 1250 °C.
