CERÀMICA IXIÓ
Argentona, Spain
Joan Serra, through his studio CERÀMICA IXIÓ, has chosen a bold path, combining porcelain with stoneware and experimenting with the effects of shrinkage and the tensions between the materials.
The crackled appearance of the turquoise glaze lends a special charm to this series of cups, showcasing the power of ceramics in the vitrification process, where the contrast between the subtle turquoise transparency and the textural quality of the clay creates a striking and captivating effect.
The pieces are made of refractory clay and glazed porcelain, shaped on the potter’s wheel and then assembled.
