Bottoni e Non Solo Ceramica
Udine, Italy
Laura Piani creates buttons made of earthenware, stoneware, and porcelain using various shaping, decorating, and firing techniques—including traditional and raku methods. Through her ongoing exploration of everyday objects, she aims to help people discover just how rich and fascinating the world of ceramics is. Shaping is primarily done on a slab. For decoration, Laura uses engobes, underglazes, and oxides, as well as glazes, thick overglazes, and decals. She prefers to work with bone china using intarsia and Nerikomi techniques.
