The idea stems from a question: where do the voices come from that rise from the wells that, like Odysseus’ sirens, drove men mad? I imagined that the voices were creatures, similar to seaweed or paper ribbons, inhabitants of a water city that connects all the wells of this flat land that is the Po Valley. Then I imagined that something had trapped them and that they could be collected as wonder gatherers did, inside apothecary jars….
These visions took three forms.
A sculpture that speaks, composed of thirteen blue albarellos from which many voices come out. A book that tells the origin of these vessels, in a digital collage created together with Roberto Ossani. A video that is an animated and set to music version of the story, created in collaboration with Massimo Garavini.
