It was running the year 2020 and we were in forced confinement, but maybe it was 2021, or 2022, and maybe it will be 2023. We don’t know if and how we will get out of the pandemic, or if we will get out of it. We must then learn to build new tools to overcome the trauma that is renewed with each surge of contagions. Alberto Gianfreda’s Italia is also this: a possibility of active participation in creation, a work that overturns starting points and certainties while respecting history. Italy is a response to trauma, catastrophe, loneliness, brokenness.
Italy was made possible thanks to the support of AICC (with coordination by Giuseppe Olmeti and advice from Irene Biolchini and Viola Emaldi)
Italy was presented for the first time within the exhibition Ricambio la visita (Casa Testori, curated by Davide Dall’Ombra)
Project by Aicc – Italian Association of Ceramic Cities
Exhibition coordinated by MIC and AiCC for Argilla
