Nericata by Caterina Sciancalepore

Castelnuovo don Bosco, Italy

Caterina Sciancalepore creates pieces in porcelain and stoneware, fired in gas, electric, and wood-fired kilns at 1350 °C, using glazes she produces herself.

Her body of work draws inspiration from the ephemeral and light nature of the natural world, in contrast to the textural quality of pieces fired in wood-fired kilns.

She employs a variety of techniques that vary depending on the piece: wheel-throwing, casting, and hand-building; often, within a single creation, she combines multiple techniques and different types of clay.
