OrientéObjets di Valèrie Aquila
La Ciotat, France
Valèrie Aquila has chosen glazed terracotta, traditionally used in the Mediterranean, which offers a palette of varied and vibrant colors and allows for truly lively artistic expressions.
The raw material is red or black terracotta, which she transforms through wheel-throwing, slab-building, or hand-building. She applies a unique shape to each piece, giving it an expressive character.
Decorate the pieces with engobes, incisions, and scratch marks before firing them for the first time at 1020 °C and then for a second firing to make them waterproof.
