Aylin Latapiat
Pichilemu, Chile
By combining the use of the lathe with hand-sculpting, Aylin Latapiat creates works with unique and distinct characteristics.
Each piece is hand-carved and then carefully smoothed and polished to highlight its final texture. Made from refractory clays in various shades, her creations showcase a palette of organic colors that excludes the use of glazes, relying entirely on the natural qualities of the material and the polishing process. Finally, firing in an electric kiln in an oxidizing atmosphere at 1220 °C ensures complete vitrification and exceptional durability over time.
