The second edition of the International Show-Market with 185 selected ceramicists exhibiting their wares along the streets of the historic district, 85 of whom come from more than 10 foreign countries, all flanked by "technical and institutional” stands (cities with ancient ceramics traditions, ceramics artists association, potters, publications and sector manufacturers).

Open-air performance by Tuscan ceramics artists Alberto “Caba” Cavallini and Terry Davies, working, together with the students of the Istituto Statale d’Arte G. Ballardini of Faenza, on the firing of ceramics works created by Alessandra Bonoli, Anna Lombardo and Silvia Santandrea (on saturday 4th) and Alberto Cavallini (on sunday 5th), in wood-fired kilns made of ceramics fiber or glass bottles.

A collection of beautiful Tuscan ceramic arts, products that draw their charm and inspiration from history, tradition, and the continual research and experimentation of master ceramicists. The project is promoted by the Unioncamere Toscana and the Region of Tuscany. Organised by Artex with the collaboration of the CNA Toscana and Confartigianato Imprese Toscana.

THIS IS NOT A PLATE: YOUR HERITAGE, YOUR LANGUAGE, YOUR CULTURE
An international project for the teaching of human rights, integration, and peace through art and the preservation of linguistic and cultural heritage. Conceived of by the London-based Moving Universe, the objective of the programme is to nurture social change founded on global responsibility by promoting the union of people through the universal language of art, music, and communications media. “This is not a plate” is expressed through different tools: ceramic works, show-events, a book, the “Remember me” bowl, development labs, video on the road, and a 36-month world tour with the first stop, after the presentation in Nove (VI), at the MIC in Faenza, with a preview at Argillà.

TRIBUTO A MARCELLO FANTONI (TRIBUTE TO MARCELLO FANTONI)
An exhibition of works from private collections of the leading master of Italian ceramicists: born in Florence in 1915, Antonio Paolucci wrote about him that “with his 83-year long career – in fact he began working in ceramics in 1927 – not only did he honour his nation as few others did during the twentieth century, but he demonstrated that Florence and Tuscany were and can continue to be an international school and laboratory of Modernity”. As a ceramicist, but also a sculptor (bronze, silver, copper, iron, cement), his works are exhibited at the Victoria and Albert in London, at the Metropolitan in New York, at the Modern Art in Tokyo, and at the Royal Scottish in Edinburgh. In Florence, he founded the Scuola Internazionale d’Arte Ceramica (International School of Ceramic Arts), where he continues to work even today with a spirit that is as youthful as ever. Master Fantoni and Studio Battaglia will celebrate Argillà with the gift to the visitors of two graphic works of the Master (until exhaustion of numbered 100 copies available).

CONCERTO IN CERAMICA (CONCERT IN CERAMICS)
The International Ceramics Museum will host, in the inner courtyard, "Concerto in Ceramica”, the first appointment of the “I Visionari” programme: a suggestive multivision show enhanced by the notes of chamber music performed by talented young musicians. Pietro Fresa and Gaia Caporiccio on the piano, Sara Marzadori and Margherita Fanton on the viola, and Irene Marzadori on the cello, will interpret music by Biber, Bach, Vivaldi, Schuman, Chopin and Brahms, on a multivision created with images collected by photographers Alberto Berti, Carlo Conti, Dervis Castellucci, Tiziana Catani, Romano Cicognani, Moreno Diana, and Omero Rossi, of the FotoCineClub Forlì, organised by Carlo Conti, Luciano Laghi Benelli, Francesco Lopergolo, and Claudio Tuti. Alessandra Godoli and the “Dance Studio” dance company directed by Luna Ronchi participate in the making of the videos. Artistic instruction by Irene Biolchini, coordinated by Carlo Conti, general supervision by Francesco Lopergolo, and precious suggestions offered by Carmen Ravanelli Guidotti, Franco Bertoni, and Davide Servadei.

GLINIADA: THE PARADE OF THE “MEN OF CLAY”

In Faenza the historical parade that the Polish company Glinolud of Boleslawiec, an initiative of Bogdan Nowak, mime and actor, student of Marcel Marceau, has been performing for years worldwide: the actors, coated with white clay, create poetic figures that invade the streets, composing scenes and situations accompanied by live music.

The TEATRO DUE MONDI E CASA DEL TEATRO (Theatre of Two Worlds and Home of the Theatre) on the occasion of the the Gliniada – or Men of Clay parade, will hold a theatrical workshop free of charge and open to all: during the three-day long workshop, participants, under the guidance of Bogdan Nowak, a student of mime Marcel Marceau, will delve into the techniques of this original form of expression that focuses on clay as the inspiration of this theatrical research, preparing and creating the parade that will proceed along the itinerary of Argillà on September 4 and 5, starting at 5 pm.

INTERNATIONAL CERAMICS MUSEUM IN FAENZA (MIC FAENZA)
The INTERNATIONAL CERAMICS MUSEUM IN FAENZA (MIC FAENZA), during the days of Argillà Italia 2010, offers extraordinary opening hours until 10 pm, making it possible to visit:

“D’A”, the prestigious magazine of art and ceramics, will held during the same days of “Argillà”, the exhibition of works by authors from Faenza published on the covers of the same magazine over the years: works by Mauro Andrea, Gian Franco Budini, Tiziano Dalpozzo, Guido Mariani, Mirta Morigi, Mario Pezzi, Mauro Tampieri, and Carlo Zauli.
